Eco-balance eco-friendly paint

Caring for the environment has been one of our commitments since we started in 2019. That's why our paint shop uses «eco-balance» eco-friendly paint.

Why we chose an eco-friendly paint

Benefits for the environment

«Eco-balance» paint brings direct environmental benefits compared with more polluting options.

In line with how we work

We aim to offer a complete, sustainable service, and paint is a big part of what we do every day.

Without compromising quality

Finish and durability matter just as much: our paintwork comes with a lifetime paint warranty.

What's included

Eco-friendly paint isn't a separate extra: it's simply how we paint in our workshop.

Solid and metallic colours

We apply «eco-balance» paint in solid and metallic colours, matching your car's shade.

Applied in the booth

We paint in a booth, a controlled environment that helps achieve a good finish and a cleaner process.

Full preparation

Surface preparation is the same as in any quality job: sanding, primer and clear coat.

Lifetime paint warranty

The work is backed by our lifetime paint warranty.

If your car has a special finish, such as some pearlescent colours, we'll confirm in the estimate how we'll handle it and with which products.

What painting more sustainably means

Painting a car involves chemicals, solvents and waste. Much of a paint shop's environmental impact comes from volatile organic compounds, the substances that evaporate while paint is applied and dries. That's why the industry has been moving towards lower-solvent products, such as water-based paint, and more controlled processes.

At Green Car we've chosen «eco-balance» eco-friendly paint, which has direct benefits for the environment. It fits with one of our three pillars, commitment, which includes respect for our surroundings and sustainable practice. You can read more on our sustainability page.

If you'd like to know more about the product itself or how we handle waste from the paint shop, just ask. We'd rather explain it clearly than use the word eco-friendly as a mere sales line. Being open about how we work is part of earning your trust.

Will I notice a difference in the result?

What you'll notice is the finish you'd expect: a well-matched colour, a good shine and a protective layer that stands up to the sun. Sustainability doesn't come at the expense of quality. Surface preparation, painting in the paint booth and clear-coating are done with the same care, and the work comes with a lifetime paint warranty.

  • For body and paint repairs after a knock.
  • For a partial respray of one or more panels.
  • For a full respray of the car.
  • In solid and metallic colours.

Sustainability beyond the paint

Better painting is only part of it. Repairing a panel instead of replacing it, when that can be done properly, also cuts waste and material use. And protecting the metal well against corrosion extends the car's life, which is probably the most sustainable thing of all: keeping it in good shape for many years. On an island, where everything has to be shipped in, making a car last longer counts even more.

If your insurer is paying for the repair, we use the same paint: you can choose your repairer and bring the car to Green Car. See how it works on our insurer liaison page. For anything else, ask for an estimate and we'll explain how we'll go about it.

Frequently asked questions

Does eco-friendly paint last less?

Not necessarily. Durability depends mostly on good preparation and the clear coat, and our paintwork comes with a lifetime warranty.

Does it cost extra?

It's the paint we work with, not an add-on. The price of each job depends on the repair and we set it out in the estimate.

Does it work for every colour?

We use it for solid and metallic colours. For special finishes, we confirm in the estimate how we'll handle them.

Can I have it if my insurer is paying?

Yes. If you bring the car to our workshop, we paint it the same way, whoever pays for the repair.

Good to know

We work with your insurance company

If your car has suffered an incident covered by your insurance, you don't have to be the go-between: we coordinate with your insurer and its loss adjuster so the repair is authorised and done properly.

It's one of the reasons many customers come to us: less paperwork, fewer phone calls and the car back the way it should be.

How we handle it
  • You choose the garageAs a rule you can take your car to the garage you prefer; we help you check what your policy says.
  • We deal with the loss adjusterWe prepare the damage assessment and go through it with your insurer's loss adjuster.
  • We collect and deliverIf it suits you better, we pick the car up and bring it back repaired.
  • We keep you postedYou always know what stage the repair is at.
Common misconceptions

What people often believe, and what actually happens

Six ideas we often hear at the garage that are worth clearing up.

“A car that's been in an accident is never right again.”

If the structure is brought back to its measurements on a jig and joints, sealing and protection are reproduced as at the factory, the repair is sound and safe.

“My insurer decides where my car is repaired.”

As a rule you can choose the garage. Some policies offer perks at their partner garages: we help you read yours before you decide.

“A small dent can wait.”

A scrape that lifts the paint leaves bare metal exposed. With the sun and salty air in the south of the island, corrosion sets in sooner than you think.

“Eco-friendly paint is lower quality.”

A paint with fewer solvents can give an equally durable finish. What makes the difference is the preparation and the application.

“A used car that looks good has never been in a crash.”

A well-polished respray can go unnoticed at first glance. A paint thickness gauge and a check of panel gaps, sealing and welds give it away.

“It doesn't matter where it's painted: paint is paint.”

What you can't see —surface preparation, anti-corrosion protection and painting in a booth— is what decides how long the repair lasts.
