Frequently asked questions

The questions we're asked most often at the garage, answered.

Appointments, opening hours and contact

Can I register my car before bringing it in?

Yes, with the online check-in: fill in your details and the vehicle's, mark the damage and attach photos from your phone. When you arrive, the file is already open.

What are your opening hours?

We are open Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 16:00. Outside those hours you can message us on WhatsApp or by email and we will reply as soon as we open.

How do I book an appointment?

Call us on +34 922 73 64 47, message us on WhatsApp at +34 674 06 13 71 or email info@greencarservicetenerife.com. You can also use the booking form and we will get back to you to confirm the day and time.

Where are you?

At Av. 7 Islas Canarias, 32, 38639, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in Las Chafiras (south of Tenerife). There is a map on our contact page.

Do I have to bring the car to the workshop myself?

Not necessarily. We offer home collection and delivery: we pick up your car and bring it back when it is ready. Ask us about availability in your area.

Can you give me an estimate before the repair?

Yes. We prepare a no-obligation repair estimate and do not start any work without your approval. You can request one on our estimate page.

Repairs and warranties

What work do you do?

We are a bodywork and paint workshop. We repair knocks and dents, straighten structures on a chassis jig, paint in solid and metallic colours, repair bumpers and plastics, restore headlights and inspect cars before they are bought or sold. See the full list in services.

What warranty does the paintwork have?

The paint we apply comes with a lifetime warranty. We explain the terms on the warranty page and in writing when we hand the car back.

What about other repairs?

All repairs carry the repair warranty required by Spanish regulations, with a minimum of 3 months or 2,000 km. If a job has a different warranty, we state it in the estimate.

Can I find out how my car is doing while it is in the workshop?

Yes. We keep you updated on your car's status in real time, so you know which stage the repair has reached without having to call.

What kind of paint do you use?

We use 'eco-balance' environmentally friendly paint, with direct benefits for the environment. Read more on our sustainability page.

Will my car come back clean?

Yes. We return the car clean, inside and out. It is something our customers often mention.

Insurance and claims

Do you work with my insurance company?

We work with insurance companies. Call us with your policy details and we will confirm how to handle your case. There is more information on our insurance claims page.

Can I bring my car to you even if my insurer suggests another workshop?

In most cases yes, thanks to free choice of repairer. Check your policy and read our free choice of repairer guide.

Do you handle the loss assessment?

We arrange the loss adjuster's visit with the insurer and keep you informed of the outcome and the next steps.

Will I have a car while you repair mine?

We have a courtesy car, subject to availability and, for insurance claims, to what your policy covers. Ask us when you book.

I have just had an accident. What should I do?

Your safety comes first. Then fill in the accident report form and notify your insurer. We explain it step by step in what to do after an accident.

Pre-purchase and pre-sale inspection

What do you check on a car before it is bought or sold?

We focus on what we know inside out: bodywork, paint, structure and paperwork. We look at panel gaps, resprayed panels, previous repairs, rust on the underbody and inner joints, and check that the documents match the car. Details in pre-sale and pre-purchase inspection.

How can you tell whether a panel has been resprayed?

We use a paint thickness gauge: a panel with a much thicker coating than the rest has usually been resprayed or contains body filler. We combine it with a visual check against the light and a look at the inner joints, because a respray does not always mean a serious accident.

Do you check the structure too?

Yes. We look at chassis legs, wheel arches, door frames and the areas under accessible mats and trims, searching for welds that are not factory-made, uneven sealer or creased metal. If there are signs of a structural impact, we tell you plainly.

How do I book one and what do I get?

Call us, message us on WhatsApp or use the booking form to agree a day. Afterwards we give you a bodywork and paint report with photos of what we found, so you can negotiate or decide with the facts.

Can you help me get my car ready to sell?

Yes. We tell you what is worth fixing before you advertise it (a scuffed bumper, yellowed headlights, dull paint) and what is not. See getting your car ready to sell.

Businesses, fleets and leasing

Do you work with businesses and fleets?

Yes. We repair the bodywork and paint of fleets, vans and commercial vehicles, hire cars and leased vehicles. More information in businesses and fleets.

Can you plan repairs so the fleet keeps running?

We try to: we plan drop-offs with you, keep you updated on the real-time status and can collect and deliver the vehicles. Specific timescales depend on each job and we confirm them in the estimate.

Do you repair leased cars before they are returned?

Yes. Before returning a leased car it is worth checking dents, scuffs and scratches, because the leasing company may charge for them. We give you an estimate so you can compare and decide what to repair.

Do you liaise with the fleet's insurer?

Yes. We work with the insurer and the loss adjuster when the repair goes through insurance. See how we work with insurers.

Used cars

Do you sell second-hand cars?

Yes. You can find out how to see the cars we have available in used cars, or ask us directly by phone or WhatsApp.

Are the cars you sell checked?

We check them in our own workshop before selling them and tell you what has been done on each one.

What warranty do they have?

The legal guarantee that applies to a sale by a professional seller. We set out the terms in writing before you buy.

Can you inspect a used car I want to buy elsewhere?

Yes. Bring it along during opening hours and we will check the bodywork, paint, structure and paperwork in our pre-purchase inspection. There are more tips in our guide to buying a used car.
